Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke & The Bookish. Every week a new top
ten list is posted and this week is Top Ten Books That Were Totally Deceiving! This was a really hard list for me to come up with , so I did the best I could. These are books that I felt the covers or titles didn't match the summary, or books that I thought were going to be fluff and were full of awesome. All of the titles should be linked
to their description and review pages on Goodreads.com.
10.) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Beautiful picture, but I didn't get how this cover fit with the story at all. After reading the book I loved it! However, if I had gone off of the cover alone I probably would have read it anyway, but because I thought it was about America's Next Top Model.
9.) Twilight by Stephanie Meyer - the whole saga
I'm not ashamed to admit that I love this series! Maybe its beyond my understanding, but I didn't get how these picture related to the book.
8.) Torn by Amanda Hocking
I don't understand this cover either...at all.
7.) Generation Dead by Daniel Waters
Believe it or not behind this cover is actually a book with some substance! Don't get me wrong I think the cover is awesome, but lends a little fluff appeal.
6.) Paranormalcy by Kiersten White
This cover doesn't match the story for me. The main character is rebellious and kick-butt...not walking in the fields picking wild flowers. I thought this image might have something to do with the end of the story, but the sequel has a cover just like this but in a different dress.
5.) Love & Sk8 by Nancy Krulik
There is some serious substance hidden behind that skateboard! This isn't a fluff piece.
4.) The Summer series by Jenny Han
This is not a fluff series! I promise! If I cry in a book it no longer counts a fluff...and let's face it the description and pictures are made of flowing dresses, hot people, love triangles, and fluffy clouds. THERE IS MORE TO THE STORY!
3.) Beauty Queens by Libba Bray
Snarky satire at it's best. Definitely not a fluff book!
2.) The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour
Once again a book that looks fulffy, but has so much more.
1.) Haven by Kristi Cook
There are no words. How this cover fits I haven't any idea.
* If you can explain some of these covers to me I would love it! If you comment leave a link to your TOP TEN! Can't wait to check them out.
I'll have to look into the "Summer series"! Haven't heard of them before!
ReplyDeleteThis is probably my favorite contemporary series! If you are a fan of contemporary like me you should check out my contemporary giveaway under the giveaway tab!
DeleteYou are so right about Paranormalcy - doesn't match the book at all (and the book was excellent). The cover for Shatter Me totally turned me off.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Paranormalcy! When I read it, it didn't really impress me. However, I bought it and Supernatually on audio and found I liked them much better this way. As for Shatter Me it was amazing! I'm putting up my review for it next Wednesday! (I gave it 4 1/2 STARS)
