My Favorite Contemporary Reads!

As part of April is Contemporary Month I thought I would tell you about some of my favorite contemporary reads.

If you are a fan of epic drama you should check out:
The It Girl series by Cecily von Ziegsar
~ This is a spin off series of Gossip Girl and follows my favorite character Jenny Humphrey at her new private school. If you thought Gossip Girl has drama you haven't seen/read anything yet.

The Pretty One by Cheryl Klam
~ This is a story of an ugly duckling sister who has a serious accident, transforms into a beautiful girl, and learns that being the pretty one isn't all it is cracked up to be. People treat you different, even your one supportive beautiful sister.

If you are a fan of "tough stuff" books you should check out:

Fall For Anything by Courtney Summers

~ Fall For Anything is the journey of one girl trying to figure out why her father left her and her mother all alone by committing suicide. This is a wonderful book that I enjoyed very much!

Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols
~ The main character in this book has survived cancer which has made her a rebellious wild child. She gets in trouble and is put under the supervision of a young and handsome police officer who might just be able to help her. This book does have some mature themes in it.

The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder *
~ A young girl along with her mother and sister go on a heartbreaking journey to Miracle, Maine in a last ditch effort to save her from dying of cancer.

If you like contemporary books that are fun and outright mushy you should try:

Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins *
~ Anna is torn away from her friends and home her senior year and shipped to a boarding school in France. This book details her efforts to fit it in and a potential budding romance with one of her new friends.

The Summer I Turned Pretty, It's Not Summer Without You, & We'll Always Have Summer

~ This series is by far my favorite contemporary books ever! It has everything my sappy heart could want: drama, best friends who fall in love, a love triangle, and some serious tears! Read this!

These are some really cute and quick reads:
~Icing on the Lake by Catherine Clark
~The Boyfriend League by Rachel Hawthorne
~Caribbean Cruising by Rachel Hawthorne
