Description from Goodreads:

ONE OF THE BOYS

What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though-she leads them as the captain and quarterback of her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university.

But everything she's ever worked for is threatened when Ty Greeen moves to her school. Not only is he an amazing QB, but he's also amazingly hot. And for the first time, Jordan's feeling vulnerable. Can she keep her head in the game while her heart's on the line?

My Thoughts:

Catching Jordan is a great edition to the world of young adult contemporary. Jordan is a girl living in a boy's world. She eats, sleeps, and breathes football, but to get where she is Jordan has had to make sacrifices. Her character is one that was fun and enjoyable to read about. She is the ultimate tomboy with no girlfriends and her only friend interaction is with the guys on the football team. You could consider her their grounding force. The way they see her as their leader, but still feel the need to protect her was really sweet. In contradiction to this she is also one of the guys that they can tell everything to. All of the sex talk involving the football players surprised me a little, but it wasn't unreasonable or farfetched in my opinion. The romantic drama encountered in Catching Jordan is my favorite kind! Once again the trusty love triangle was used and I loved it. I don't want to give away too much, so I'll just skip over that. Beyond the romance was the fact that Jordan is a female quarterback. Sports in America are still very gender segregated and Catching Jordan explores this in an interesting way. Along with this is the relationship she has with her father who doesn't want her playing football. This isn't an earthshattering or profound piece of literature, but I absolutely loved it. Catching Jordan is the "simple" story of a girl growing up, growing in her relationships, and learning about life. It has been a while since I've read a contemporary book that I have loved this much. For the sheer enjoyment factor Catching Jordan gets 5 STARS.
